Although I’m a native of the rain drenched Pacific Northwest, I’m most definitely a sunshine girl at heart. Boots and beanies are great for a few months, but NOT for June (I mean really rainclouds, REALLY?!?). As I mournfully peer outside at the devastatingly un-summerific weather we’re currently having, my mind drifts to more happier things in life: sandals, shorts and fringe…yes, fringe. Bohemian dreamin’ is what’s getting my through these wet days of pre-summer fun. If you’re looking for a little hippy inspiration yourself, check out the 5 easy steps you can take to be boho fabulous.

Get Slouchy with Dolce Vita's Blakely Topbangles.

1. Pile on an unnecessary amount of jewelry: To really get into the boho spirit, throw caution to the wind when it comes to accessorizing. Forget your mother’s style advice about less is more: Do as the gypsies do and wear layer upon layers of your favorite beads, gems and bangles.

2. Show some skin: …But not too much. Showing off your gams is a must, but balance it out on top with a loose fitting peasant blouse or not-too-low-cut dress. When you’re going boho, you get the green light to pull on extra short shorts.

3. Get slouchy: Slouchy boots and slouchy shirtdresses scream bohemian. If you’re top is extra roomy, cinch it together with a western leather belt.

4. Vest up: The vest is a key piece in the whole hippy look. Suede is great. Fringe is fantastic.

Vest Up with Sanctuary's Val Vest

5. Act the part: The best part about bohemian style is that it’s carefree and effortless. Now that you have the

pieces in place to make a great outfit, pull it all together by acting like the free spirit that you are…just don’t get caught in the rain šŸ™‚

Without a doubt one of the more popular trends to take off this spring and summer has been the romper. Yes, you are now allowed to dress like a 6-year-old girl and get away with it. However, most of the designs are a little bit more sassy than the ones you wore when you were young. Some of my favorite brands have come out with fun takes on the classic romper. Here are a few:

Dolce Vita 'Hilda Romper'

I really like the one-shoulder trend lately and this romper got it right! Warning: To wear this bad boy you have to be on your A-game, it requires some major sass!

Joie 'Acacia' Silk Romper

This romper offers a little bit more coverage and is a little bit more dressy. I love the silk, and it looks so comfortable. The cuffed sleeves and shoulder detail give it that army feel that has been so popular lately. Added Bonus: Pockets!

Tulle 'Petal Sleeve Romper'

I love the floral pattern on this romper. It reminds me of one that I would wear when I was younger, but the bronze snaps on the front and back pockets gives it some extra flair. Add a stack of bracelets or flat sandals to accentuate them!

Dolce Vita ‘Jade Romper’

This romper is quite cute and also comes in black. The silky material is flattering and hangs loosely off the body. The back detail is done in lace, and in sits at the perfect spot to hide your bra.

Embrace the romper while it is so warm outside. After all, one piece of clothing and you are done! How amazing is that?

I have recently developed a big love for shoes. I love them because they can be the focal point of an outfit, or they can simply be a subtle addition to an entire look that you are trying to achieve. Here are some of my favorite shoes that I have been lusting over lately!

1. Poetic Licence ‘Spring Blooms’ Pump in Basil Green These slingback pumps instantly transport me to the 1950’s. I love the vintage inspired design and the fun colors! These shoes are perfect for spring and summer and can be dressed up or down quite easily. The pink heel is the perfect amount of sass for a date night, but the girlie leaves would look great paired with a flowy skirt for a picnic in the park!

2. Dolce Vita ‘Osorno’ Sandal in Gold

This sandal is the perfect staple for a summer closet. Most people don’t realize how easily gold goes with a variety of different colors and looks. I wear gold shoes with just about anything. These sandals are a nice mix between the “gladiator” trend and the t-strap style. Dolce Vita is one of my favorite shoe brands because they make some truly beautiful shoes.

3. Franco Sarto Artist Collection ‘Atlas’ Sandal in Torrone

Nude heels and shoes in general are very in style at the moment. The great thing about nude shoes is that if you pair them with a skirt or a dress, they elongate your legs by making your foot camouflage in with your legs. This is something that every woman can use, so make the nude heel your new best friend. These Franco Sarto heels are especially fun because they have a cute little zipper up the back of the foot. Its the little things, people!

4. Report ‘Kimball’ Flat in Black/White Stripe

This little number is super great for summer. Flats are a tricky business for summer because some can leave your feet too hot and sweaty (leather). These are fabric, plus there is a peep toe, which means no nasty foot perspiration for you. Okay, enough about foot sweat, these shoes are also just really cute and I adore the fringe.

5. Farylrobin ‘Owen’ Wedge in Multi

How fun are these sandals? The architectural heel and the bright color blocking makes these shoes a statement piece. I love wedges because they are so much easier for me to walk in than heels, especially if I am going to be wearing them for a night out or for more than 3 hours. These wedges are really breathtaking.

6. Sam Edelman ‘Hudson’ Sandal

Yep. You are seeing a zebra print gladiator sandal. I have seen these in person, and let me tell you, they are pretty fabulous. There is actual synthetic zebra hair, and they zip up the back. These would look great paired with a more basic outfit, such as denim cut off shorts and a baggy t-shirt. There are so many cool aspects to these sandals that you want to avoid clutter with a flashy outfit as well.

All of these shoes a different and unique. Play with different styles. If you are not as flashy, go with the basics but throw in one pair of flashy shoes every once in awhile. It will help you to branch out of your normal style.

With gift shopping, party planning, and vacation arranging, the holiday season can be a stressful time of year. Because of this, picking out the perfect ensemble for holiday parties can be more pressure-filled than it needs to be. If you’re in a rush and don’t know what to wear or buy for a special holiday occasion, remember these words: Keep it classic.

Innovative designs and trendy fashions come and go with each new season, but what never dies out is the simple, classic shapes and styles that have been at the cornerstone of American fashion for centuries. Take the cardigan, for example: Its simple design and easy structure has stuck around for ages due to its functionality.

The LBD is also a staple of Western wear because, if done right, it can flatter any figure. If you’re over black for the holidays, choose another color that’s just as classic, such as cherry red or chocolate brown. The high-waisted pencil skirt and crisp white blouse are also styles that aren’t expected to go off trend in the next hundred years or so, making them wise purchase decisions with longevity.

Timeless fashion pieces are such because they incorporate both function and style — clothing that can be lived in, not merely modeled for aesthetic appeal. So when you’re rummaging through your closet in the minutes before you venture off to the next party, remember that the best designs are the ones designed around you. Happy party hopping!
