One of our biggest requests we have from clients right now is “transition pieces, please!” It’s that time of year when fall is on the mind, but the thermostat is still bursting. Layers are still out of the questions, but here’s an easy way to take a great tunic and transition to fall, while still savoring those last few sweet drops of summer. We love this Piko1988 Tunic ($59) paired with the Joe’s Jeans Honey ($158) and the Steve Madden “Bride” ($79). The look is simple, easy to pull off and both the tunic and jeans can be worn all year-round.

How do I make this tunic work for early fall when it’s cold in the morning and hot by the afternoon?

Take the Tunic and denim into Fall: Pair the tunic and denim with a heavyweight twill jacket like this one by Freebird and add a fabulous pair of boots by Seychelles.

Pair the striped tunic with a heavy pair of heather gray leggings, boots and the ever popular surplus jacket.

The Jolie-Pitt clan is seriously going to rule the world in about 15 years. Their small army of six is too cute for words and they each have their own personal style (or so it seems). I don’t even have as good of style as these 6-year olds!

I have 2 current celebrities whose fashion expertise (or that of their stylist) I adore. The first is Camilla Belle.

I don’t really know much about this girl, besides the fact that 1. she dated a jonas brother (i don’t get it) 2. she is basically my age 3. her eyebrows kinda creep me out and 4. she was in that ridiculous horror movie about some cell phone killer or something….

BUT I also know that whenever I see photos of her she looks classy and extremely put together. I love most everything I have seen her in and she really knows how to dress for her body type. Observe:

Who is your celebrity fashion icon?

William Rast Scarlet Short

When the summer sun emerges, so do shorter dresses, short sleeve tops and, of course…shorts. Cut-off shorts are all the rage this sunny season, and although they’re not necessarily new to our warm weather wardrobe, they definitely are improved. Both sassy and (acceptably) trashy, cut-offs are perfect for an evening cocktail BBQ bash or a night out with the gals and your five inch platforms.

Paige Jimmy Jimmy Short Sardinia

Paige and William Rast’s version of the summer short is flattering and fashionable without being too form-fitting (not to mention fabulous, just to make that alliteration even more fantastic). Match them with a sweet pair of flats or heels, throw on a cute tank, and hit the boardwalk (or sidewalk) in style.

Lately I have been visiting a little fashion blog called Feather Report (http://featherreport.blogspot.com/). It is a fun site that creates a daily outfit based on the weather in NYC. While I am not IN New York, I have found that the site gives me some great ideas and tips on how to style my own outfits. Here is an example:

This outfit was for Mostly Cloudy with a T-Storm, high 76

While I cannot currently afford most of the items on the website, it still gives me ideas about how to pair things that I wouldn’t come up with on my own. What is also great about the site is they also give you an option for if it is warmer or colder.

Warmer: Instead of leggings, wear espadrilles

Colder: Add an oversized cardi and boots

So, since I live in Oregon, and it is currently rainy and cold (don’t get me started) I opted for the colder version.

Here is my version of the outfit:

You should all go there now and see for yourself. Happy styling!

I’ll admit it, I wasn’t too keen on the cargo skinny look when I first got a glimpse of the trend at the Las Vegas Magic tradeshow back in February. The idea of bulging man pockets sewed onto the hips of bum-hugging skinnies seemed a little less than flattering. However, after seeing celebs like Rhianna rock the look so effortlessly and without adding unnecessary baggage to the thigh region, I am officially a convert.

Chip & Pepper’s interpretation of this fun alternative to the typical denim skinny is totally on point: Lightweight twill offers comfort and stretch, while the side pockets add flair and functionality (for those nights out when you’d rather pocket your wallet than carry a purse).

Opinions may vary when it comes to the skinny cargo, but one thing’s for sure: Army and military inspired duds are trends you will surely see for seasons to come.
